Pole Dance Instructor - Part Time

Seeking an individual to fill the role of Pole Dancing Instructor at Brass Butterflies Pole and Aerial Studio, Waterloo.  Applicants should have flexible availability, primarily on weekends and weekday evenings, to teach recreational pole dance and fitness classes.  

Location:

Brass Butterflies, 60 Bathurst Drive, Units 14-15, Waterloo, ON, N2V 2A9

Qualifications:

  • Certifications: CPFA Beginner Pole Dance Certification or equivalent (to be reviewed and agreed upon) will be required to teach at Brass Butterflies, though a candidate might be hired and begin onboarding and supervised teaching prior to completion of a certification, depending on experience, and conditional upon completion of the certification by an agreed upon date.   

  • Current First Aid (Emergency or Standard) and CPR certificate (may be completed once hired by an agreed upon date).

  • Preference given to applicants with experience teaching and/or assisting pole dancing, group fitness, dance, gymnastics, or other, similar activities in a recreational group setting.

  • Flexible availability: The teaching schedule may fluctuate as often as every 2 months though the studio will make every effort to provide as much consistency as the seasonal ebb, flow, and movement of students through our programs allows.  Scheduled hours will range from 2-6 hours per week on average and will depend on availability, student registrations, and qualification of the instructor to teach a range of levels and classes.

  • Preference given to applicants who are already familiar with the Brass Butterflies pole dancing curriculum.

  • Being qualified to teach other group fitness classes such as flexibility, conditioning, gymnastics, or other styles of dance is considered an asset.

Compensation:

  • Industry competitive hourly instruction rate

  • Our instructors are considered employees under the Employment Standards Act, therefore you also receive vacation pay, stat holiday pay, employer matched EI and CPP contributions (standard employment benefits under the ESA)

More Information About The Pole Instructor Role:

  • Our studio offers a standardized progressive curriculum so that our students experience consistency and a focus on safety and injury prevention; instructors will be provided with the Brass Butterflies pole dancing curriculum and trained on its use. They will be required to demonstrate the ability to follow the curriculum at each level before being assigned as a primary instructor at that level.  

  • Scheduled classes will be primarily on evenings and weekends, with a variable schedule that may change every 8 weeks.

Aerial Instructor (Aerial Silks, Hammock, Hoop, and/or Trapeze) - Part Time

Seeking qualified and experienced instructors, with flexible availability primarily during weekday evenings and weekends, to teach recreational aerial classes to adults, teens, and kids on a part-time basis.  Support through the certification process is possible for newer/inexperienced candidates with exceptional potential.

Brass Butterflies, 60 Bathurst Drive, Units 14-15, Waterloo, ON, N2V 2A9

Minimum Requirements:

  • Certifications:  

    • We require our instructors to be certified in group fitness and Aerial / Circus Arts instruction.  Applicants who do not yet hold a certification but intend to complete one, may still apply.  Born to Fly, École Nationale de Cirque, Nimble Arts (NECCA), CPFA, and Xpert are examples of preferred aerial teacher training programs, however we are willing to review and consider equivalent programs. 

  • Current First Aid (Emergency or Standard) and CPR certificate (may be completed once hired by an agreed upon date)

  • Vulnerable Sector Police Check (maybe be obtained upon offer of employment)

  • Willing and able to teach kids and youth classes as well as adult classes

  • Flexible availability, especially during weekday evenings and weekends.  Actual scheduled teaching hours will vary term to term depending on student demand. A typical teaching schedule will be 2 - 6 hours per week depending on availability.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • A general fitness or movement based instructor certification (e.g. Personal Trainer or Group Fitness certification,  Gymnastics, Dance)

  • Experience teaching aerial arts in a recreational group setting.

  • High level of skill in aerial arts and clear dedication to continued training and skill development. 

  • Familiarity with the Brass Butterflies curriculum and community is a plus
